Client:
Fortune 100 Telecommunications Company
Project:
2002 Awards Conference
The
Strategic Advantage: When this Fortune 100 telecommunications
company decided on Cabo San Lucas as their destination for their
annual awards conference, they were faced with several major production
challenges as the
host hotel did not have a ballroom large enough to serve as their
meeting and entertainment venue.
A
tent on the beach was considered the next logical alternative,
however, substantial obstacles stood in the way. The location
for the tent was a beautiful, isolated beach which lacked electricity,
air conditioning, running water, and food services. Even more
daunting, the Baja area lacked much of the needed heavy equipment
and construction infrastructure for the job - making it seemingly
impossible to ensure success.
However,
during the bid process, Strategic Events demonstrated resourcefulness
and creativity by developing a plan which would not only work,
but would get high marks from their special attendees.
Strategic
Events planned and organized a convoy of trucks to travel down
the Baja that included generators, air conditioners, restrooms,
a magnificent tent, staging, and all of the infrastructure necessary
to erect and operate a self contained "city in a tent."
The
tent was then a welcome home to a full 3 day event - complete
with headline entertainment, speakers, custom videos, and wonderful
meal functions.
Our
client told Strategic Events that the "tent made us feel special,
like we had our own private venue by the beach."
